Tri Training Harder Terms & Conditions
ATHLETE CODE OF CONDUCT
Last updated January 2026
This Code of Conduct applies to all Tri Training Harder services (including group sessions, online services, camps where applicable, and communications relating to those services). By engaging with our services, you agree to follow this Code of Conduct.
1. OUR COMMITMENT
At Tri Training Harder (TTH), we are committed to creating safe, fun, and deliberate training environments where athletes can train, progress, and belong.
We welcome athletes of all backgrounds, abilities, and neurotypes. Inclusion is a core part of who we are. At the same time, we believe that positive training environments depend on mutual respect, clear communication, and shared responsibility.
This Code of Conduct applies to all Tri Training Harder services, including group sessions, online services, camps (where applicable), and communications relating to those services.
By engaging with our services, athletes agree to follow this Code of Conduct.
This Code of Conduct exists to:
protect athletes, coaches, and facilities,
support positive group training experiences,
and set clear expectations so everyone can thrive.
Inclusion and support are delivered within these principles and must always be balanced with safety, safeguarding responsibilities, facility requirements, and the experience of the wider group.
2. OUR VALUES IN PRACTICE
Everything we do is guided by three principles:
Safe – We prioritise physical, emotional, and psychological safety for all athletes and coaches.
Fun – Training should be enjoyable, supportive, and motivating—especially in group environments.
Deliberate – Progress happens through thoughtful planning, clear boundaries, and purposeful coaching.
3. WHAT ATHLETES CAN EXPECT FROM US
We commit to:
(a) Treating all athletes with respect, dignity, and fairness.
(b) Making reasonable adjustments where an athlete has disclosed additional needs, where practicable and proportionate, to support positive participation.
(c) Communicating clearly and honestly about training, expectations, and boundaries.
(d) Creating environments where athletes feel heard, supported, and safe.
(e) Reviewing and adapting support over time as confidence, skills, and environments change.
(f) Addressing concerns promptly and professionally.
Support arrangements may be reviewed when session formats, group environments, or facility requirements change, or when safety or safeguarding concerns arise or agreed boundaries are repeatedly breached.
4. WHAT WE ASK OF OUR ATHLETES
To help maintain a positive training environment, we ask all athletes to:
4.1. RESPECT COACHES, ATHLETES, AND STAFF
(a) Follow coaching instructions during sessions.
(b) Treat fellow athletes, coaches, and facility staff with courtesy and respect.
(c) Avoid aggressive, confrontational, or disruptive behaviour.
(d) Respect any boundaries around communication, including frequency, timing, and channels, as set by your coach, defined by your coaching package, or communicated as reasonable and appropriate for the service being provided.
4.2. FOLLOW SESSION RULES AND FACILITY REQUIREMENTS
(a) Adhere to session timings, lane discipline, route guidance, and safety instructions.
(b) Respect facility rules, including start/end times and space usage.
(c) Stop training when instructed that a session has finished, or when a coach or facility staff member instructs you to do so for safety, safeguarding, or facility compliance reasons.
4.3. COMMUNICATE OPENLY AND RESPONSIBLY
(a) Raise concerns early if something feels unclear or uncomfortable.
(b) Use agreed communication channels and respect response boundaries.
(c) Use the agreed process for raising concerns, and allow a reasonable time for review and response. If you remain dissatisfied, we will outline the next appropriate escalation step.
4.4. ENGAGE WITH SUPPORT CONSTRUCTIVELY
(a) Where additional support or adjustments are agreed, engage with them in good faith.
(b) Understand that support is designed to enable participation—not restrict it.
(c) Recognise that adjustments may evolve over time.
Adjustments are intended to support participation, not to guarantee access to every activity in every format.
4.5 BE OPEN ABOUT HEALTH, INJURY, AND WELLBEING
To help us coach safely and effectively, we ask athletes to:
(a) Inform their coach promptly of any injury, illness, medical condition, or change in health that may affect training or participation.
(b) Follow reasonable coaching guidance and adjustments made in response to disclosed injury, illness, or well-being concerns.
(c) Avoid training through injury, illness, or fatigue where a coach has advised modification or rest for safety reasons.
Where an athlete chooses not to disclose relevant information or continues to train against medical or coaching advice, TTH may modify or pause participation to protect the athlete, other participants, and the coaching environment.
4.6. RESPECT GROUP ENVIRONMENTS
(a) Understand that group training involves shared space, shared time, and shared responsibility.
(b) Accept that individual needs must be balanced with the safety and experience of others.
(c) Be open to structured approaches when joining or re-joining group sessions.
4.6.1 RESPECT GROUP COMMUNICATIONS & DIGITAL SPACES
This Code of Conduct applies to group communications, including messaging platforms, social media, and online spaces connected to TTH activities.
We ask athletes to:
(a) Communicate respectfully and responsibly in group chats, forums, and social media spaces linked to TTH.
(b) Avoid bullying, harassment, exclusionary behaviour, or repeated messaging that may cause distress to others.
(c) Obtain explicit consent before sharing photos, videos, or personal information of other athletes.
(d) Be mindful that online behaviour can impact group dynamics, well-being, and trust just as much as in-person conduct.
Where group communication or online behaviour undermines safety, inclusion, or group experience, TTH may intervene, moderate communication, or apply appropriate boundaries in line with this Code of Conduct.
4.6.2 REPRESENTING AND RACING CONDUCT
When athletes race, train, or attend events while representing Tri Training Harder — including racing under the TTH name, wearing TTH kit, or identifying as a TTH athlete — we ask that they:
(a) Act with respect towards race officials, volunteers, other athletes, spectators, and event staff.
(b) Follow event rules, safety instructions, and directions from officials at all times.
(c) Avoid behaviour that could reasonably bring Tri Training Harder, its coaches, or its athletes into disrepute.
(d) Use appropriate judgement in public spaces, including social media interactions related to events.
Emotional responses during competition are understood; however, aggressive, abusive, or unsafe behaviour is not acceptable. Where conduct at an event raises safeguarding, safety, or reputational concerns, Tri Training Harder may review continued representation of the organisation in line with this Code of Conduct.
We are proud of our athletes and the way they represent themselves and the wider triathlon community.
5. INCLUSION, ADJUSTMENTS & BOUNDARIES
We believe that inclusion and boundaries go hand-in-hand.
(a) Adjustments are made to remove unnecessary disadvantage and support participation.
(b) Boundaries exist to protect safety, facilities, and group experience.
(c) Where behaviour or actions risk safety, facility relationships, or group wellbeing, safeguarding responsibilities take priority.
(d) Where an athlete’s emotional or behavioural response presents a risk to safety, safeguarding, facility relationships, or group wellbeing, safeguarding responsibilities override individual preference or autonomy.
Participation remains welcome, but expectations around safety and conduct are non-negotiable.
6. WHEN THINGS DON’T GO TO PLAN
We recognise that misunderstandings can happen.
Where issues arise, we will:
(a) seek to clarify concerns promptly,
(b) communicate clearly and respectfully,
(c) and work towards constructive solutions.
We recognise and validate emotional responses; however, acknowledging how something feels does not necessarily mean agreement with an interpretation of events.
If behaviour continues to compromise safety, facilities, or group experience, TTH may:
(a) pause group participation temporarily,
(b) review support needs,
(c) or require additional steps before resuming group training.
This is to protect everyone involved. Any action we take will be reasonable and proportionate to the circumstances, and taken with the aim of supporting a constructive outcome.
Safeguarding actions are not disciplinary findings and do not prevent an athlete from raising a complaint through the appropriate process.
7. OUR SHARED GOAL
Our aim is simple: To create training environments where every athlete can participate positively, progress safely, and enjoy the journey.
This Code of Conduct helps us do that, together.
