Join Our Team

We are looking for talented growth-minded coaches to join our team of professional coaches. A coaching role with TTH is more than just coaching athletes in various roles – abroad, on camps, remotely, or in squads. Our coaches join a collaborative group of coaches with the aim of working together to learn, develop and ultimate coach to the highest possible standard.

Coaching is an unregulated profession, and to bring some sense of order to that, we have developed our Professional Endurance Coaching Pathway. You can use the link in the button below to find out more. All coaches must complete our coach development pathway regardless of their prior experience. This ensures that there are no gaps of knowledge or experience, coaches are able to work collaboratively with their colleagues in confidence and that they can take on clear mentoring roles to assist other coaches developing through the pathway.

Our aim is straightforward: we want more coaches coaching. Our intent is to remove the barriers that coaches experience when triyng to cultivate their own career. Our belief is that if we all work to the continual highest standard, have a thirst for improvement and work collaboratively, the sum is most definitely greater than the parts. Therefore, coaching with TTH is a wise choice: know that all the coaching administration is covered, costs are shared, marketing is amplified so you can focus on delivering quality sessions and earning through your passion while having a clear direction on furthering your career.

Professionalise your coaching through our professional endurance coaching pathway and learn, grow and work as part of a team of like-minded coaches.

The Six Supporting Pillars of Professional Coaching

We identified that there are six critical areas that should be addressed after a coach has completed a national governing body coaching qualification before they can coach to the standard of a professional coach. It is these standards that we use to accept our coaches through the pathway and continually hold them to these criteria. This ensures that there are no gaps in a coach’s knowledge, experience, understanding or qualifications. We believe that professionalism is a standard to continually work towards and not a badge once earned; it is a way of living. It is this high standard of discipline and coaching that gives us confidence when we onboard new coaches and athletes who work with them. However, equally, these are also the standards that we hold ourselves to – Tri Training Harder must also be supportive of their coaches. Coaching can be a lonely profession, and through our collaborative approach, coaches can always have other team members available to help with a problem or support them on a camp as well as streamline some of their own learning and development!

  • We believe that professional coaches must be highly knowledgeable in all areas of endurance but they must recognise that they still have more to learn. Coaching is both a science and an art. Professional coaches must base decisions in objective and scientific ways.

Coaches will arrive with expertise in certain areas but rarely can have a complete understanding. In fact, by the nature of our approach, coaches will need to continue learning all the time. Equally, new coaches bring different perspectives and ideas which can add to the pool of coaching knowledge meaning all coaches are continually challenged on their own point of view.

Nevertheless, professional coaches must have a very high level of knowledge and understanding. Without it, they will struggle to create their own philosophy and struggle to apply new concepts or ideas to current knowledge.

  • We believe that coaching experience is a huge part of their development. There is no shortcut to learning from experience.

Knowledge is only one half of a coach’s toolbox. What they know is one thing, the experience of knowing how and when to apply this knowledge is fundamental to the art of coaching.

However, by learning from their peers, professional coaches can expedite some of their mistakes and deepen their opportunities for learning.

With the collaborative approach of our community of coaches, new coaches have a vast amount of experience to tap into and learn from yet older, more experienced coaches are forced to be open-minded about their philosophies and not get stuck in their ways.

  • We believe that professional coaches must operate as a professional business too. This means providing excellent customer experience, compliance, service support and delivery.

Coaching firms must find the balance between acquiring new customers, delivering excellent service and operating as a professional business. We ensure that our coaches are supported effectively beyond just “doing coaching” which ensure that they can focus their efforts on their athletes and their own personal development.

The more, high-quality coaches there are in the world, the better the standard of coaching, which is only a good thing for the athletes.

  • We believe that professional coaches need a support network, and through this support network, can learn, develop and create a culture of collaboration.

All our coaches work as part of a team of professional coaches to help challenge and progress their coaching through feedback and continual development.

The ability to approach a problem, a new piece of tech, or a concept from multiple perspectives removes the common “in my experience” approach that may be found in coaching. Peer support means there is a peer-review process in place and ensure that evolution is robust, safe and sustainable.

  • We believe that a professional coach is always learning. The minute they stop learning is the peak of their coaching career.

This humble, approach to self-development and learning ensures that a coach keeps up to date with current trends/thinking/developments within the industry. Though a coach’s philosophy may stay consistent, their understanding should always be evolving.

A professional coach will never shy away from something that challenges their belief’s or ability as it will only add to their coaching ability and result in a better experience for their athletes.

  • We believe that professional coaches should be seeking other professional qualifications that sit alongside their coaching ones.

We believe that a professional triathlon coach should be comfortable engaging with other professional coaches in any discipline. Though the sport may differ, the approach and needs are very similar. A true test of our coaches is for them to be able to be comfortable in a coaching environment outside of their normal coaching sport comfort zone. Can they pick up the principles of coaching team sports, or throwing ones?

As a result of this approach, we encourage coaches to look for further professional qualifications, to sit alongside triathlon or endurance ones to support the coach develop further. For example strength and conditioning, or individual discipline governing body ones like swimming or cycling.

For me, the biggest learning points to come out of the professional coaching pathway are related to working with female athletes. The information in Trainual is fantastic and has helped me pinpoint areas I need to read into further.
