A lot of this can sound very overwhelming, so we have put this article together to help explain how training can be enhanced by the use of artificial intelligence. Additionally, we have put some key terms down here so you can see some of the power of this new software.

Normalised Training Score (NTS) — Exercise scientists have tried to quantify training load. TriDot has one of the most powerful ways of normalising and quantifying the training load athletes execute, allowing for age, environmental conditions (heat, altitude, etc.), sport type, duration, and intensity. This alone ensures athletes quantify how much training load they are doing and prevents injury.

RaceX Optimisation — The TriDot and RunDot software also has built-in race planning and predictions based on historic and forecast conditions on the day, enabling you to predict your race based on your training and performance. This enables objective-based planning and outcome goals to enable the best pacing strategy for the day and the conditions based on your training.

Environmental Normalisation Adaptions — A run in 10’C is very different to a run in 25’C at the same pace—one will feel a lot harder. The software will adapt the session targets depending on the conditions up to the last minute that you upload it to your device, ensuring you hit the right training impact for the session and optimizing the training time you have available. You can also toggle between indoor and outdoor sessions.

Physiogenomix — Everyone is unique. Genetics can play a big role in these differences and adapt how you manage training load and recovery. The software (if you upload the data) can respond and adapt to it.

Real-time adaption — With the thousands of data points that exist, writing a training program is becoming increasingly hard and using automation and AI to analyze and adapt to all the inputs is going to be key. This is already shown by the fact we can change the intensity or duration of the session depending on how you feel and if you skip a session, or do more than intended, the rest of the plan continues to adapt and change to ensure the best route forwards.
